Teaching is an exciting and rewarding endeavor. Below are a few courses I’m teaching at UMD. Additionally, I’m hoping to teach quantum mechanics and, perhaps someday, an audio electronics and/or acoustics class. These courses peaked my interests during my undergraduate days of studying sound and my interest in instrument acoustics. Below are a few courses that I am currently teaching.

ENEE789C Advanced Topics in Electrophysics: Solar Energy Conversion (Fall 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016)

This course is designed to provide a fundamental understanding of energy conversion processes from solar illumination. The beginning of the course will focus on traditional topics including photovoltaic solar cells and solar thermal devices. We will discuss thermodynamic limits, device physics, and the optics and photonics of such devices. The latter part course will focus on future generation techniques, including multijunction and multi-exciton generation, as well as more speculative conversion processes, such as rectifying antennas.

ENEE380 Electromagnetic Theory (Fall 2012; Spring 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016)

Introduction to electromagnetic fields. Coulomb’s law, Gauss’s law, electrical potential, dielectric materials capacitance, boundary value problems, Biot-Savart law, Ampere’s law, Lorentz force equation, magnetic materials, magnetic circuits, inductance, time varying fields and Maxwell’s equation.

Gemstone Project Seminar (Fall 2012-Spring 2015)

This is a six seminar course during which Gemstone students carry out multidisciplinary research under the general guidance of a faculty mentor. The teams develop their working relationship, start their literature search, define their research question, and set short & long-term goals. I am the mentor for Team QUANTUM SEA:Quantum Dots as a New Technique to Unleash Maximum SolarEnergy Absorption. This project is aimed at using quantum dots to simultaneously down-convert high energy photons and to act as an anti-reflection coating to improve solar cell efficiencies.
